Scenographer, Interactive Designer, Installation Artist, Sound Designer
is an interactive sound installation based on the old tale, The Blind Men and an Elephant. This project was part of the MANIFEST.IO Exhibition at Alte Münze on 17.02.2023 and 18.02.2023.
The world today is complex, with information spreading rapidly. How do we see the bigger picture? This installation challenges visitors to reflect on their limited perspectives and consider how different viewpoints can combine for a fuller understanding. It encourages critical thinking about controversial issues. The elephant, deconstructed as a tree, symbolizes fragmented perception. The wall represents the blind men's limited view, while cracks reveal glimpses of branches, leaves, moss, roots, soil, and trunk—each a piece of the whole.
Interactive touch and sound elements are used to enhance the complexities of differences in perspectives and the scope of human senses and potential. The sound is triggered by touch using sensors connected to TouchDesigner and Ableton Live. The viewer intuitively walks in the pattern of a circle, in order to activate all six elements, representing infinite perspectives and the nature of nonlinear experiences.
