Structured Nothingness (MA Thesis Project)
Kinetic Sculpture | 2024
Mechanical Designer, Experiential Designer, Installation Artist

is a kinetic, sculpture installation that embodies the principles of String Theory within the context of contemporary society. The project aims to reveal the intricate and interconnected nature of reality by juxtaposing industrial materials with delicate, dynamic forms. By using a metal box to symbolize black box models and industrial society, the installation illustrates the hidden complexities of systems whose inner workings are not immediately apparent.

At first glance, Structured Nothingness appears as a small metal box, representing the solid, unyielding nature of industrialized society and the concept of black box models in science where inputs and outputs are known, but the inner workings remain concealed. However, as the installation activates, the top of the box slowly lifts, unveiling an intricate network of red strings. These strings, suspended in a complex web, symbolize the hidden layers of interconnectedness that underpin all matter in the universe.
